McGriff-Williams Insurance Website Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 3, 2026
McGriff-Williams Insurance (“MWI,” “we,” “us,” “our”) is an independent insurance agency in Gainesville, Florida. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through mcgriffwilliams.com and when you call or email us, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
The short version:
- We use your information to answer your request and help with your insurance.
- To quote, place or service your insurance, we share it with insurance companies and others who help us do that.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell, rent or share leads with other agencies or marketers.
- We don’t send marketing texts. If you’ve been in touch with us, a member of our team may text you one-to-one about your request or your insurance.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. Our website forms, phone calls and emails may collect:
- Contact details: name, phone number(s), email, mailing or property address, ZIP code, preferred contact method and a good time to reach you.
- Insurance details you choose to send, depending on the form. Examples: the type of coverage you want, your current insurance company, policy number and renewal date and the changes you’re requesting (such as adding a mortgagee).
- Information an insurance quote needs: for an auto quote or motor vehicle report request, driver names, dates of birth and driver’s license numbers, plus vehicle details (year, make, model, VIN) and tickets or accidents. For a Medicare quote, your date of birth and ZIP code.
- Business and certificate requests: business name, certificate holder details, job information and any contracts you upload.
- Anything you type into a message box. Please don’t send Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers or medical details through a website form or ordinary email. Call us and we’ll tell you a safer way to send them.
- Job applications sent through our Careers form.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our systems and the tools listed in Section 3 may receive your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how you reached our site and the date and time of your visit.
Calls. We may record some calls for quality, training and recordkeeping. We’ll tell you at the start of any call we record. Federal rules require us to record calls about Medicare plan sales and enrollment.
2. How we use your information
We use it to:
- respond to your request, questions or quote request;
- shop, quote, apply for, place and service insurance for you, including changes, certificates, billing questions, renewals and claims help;
- keep the records insurance laws and our insurance company contracts require;
- operate, secure and improve our website, including blocking spam and bots on our forms;
- send you information about your insurance or our services, as described in Section 6 (you can opt out of marketing at any time); and
- comply with the law and protect our clients, our agency and the public.
3. Cookies, analytics and website tools
This site uses cookies and similar technologies. The first time you visit, a cookie banner lets you accept, reject or choose which categories are allowed (Essential, Statistics, Marketing). You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings button on the site. Our Cookie Policy lists each cookie by name, purpose and how long it lasts.
The tools on our site:
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) helps us see how visitors use the site. It sets its cookies only if you allow Statistics cookies. If you don’t, Google may still receive limited information about page visits without cookies, which helps us count visits in total. More on how Google uses this information: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Google reCAPTCHA (Google LLC) protects our forms from spam and bots. It may collect hardware and software information and send it to Google. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
- Quote request form. Our quote request form has several steps. While you fill it out, your answers from the earlier steps (such as your name, address, phone and email) are kept in a cookie in your browser so the last step can send them together. The cookie is deleted when you send the form, or when you close your browser if you don’t finish. It isn’t used for analytics or advertising.
- Google Maps Platform (Google LLC): the Google rating box on our Client Testimonials page, which loads only if you allow Marketing cookies and receives your IP address and browser information.
- EqualWeb provides our accessibility menu, which lets you adjust contrast, text size and other display settings.
- Embedded YouTube videos (Google LLC) load only if you allow Marketing cookies.
- Security and hosting services (for example, Cloudflare) help keep the site available and protect it from attacks. Some set a short-lived essential cookie for this purpose. Pages also load fonts and code from content delivery services such as Google Fonts, which receive your IP address.
How to opt out:
- Use the cookie settings button on our site to reject Statistics or Marketing cookies.
- Install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, some parts of the site may not work.
- Our site doesn’t currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals. Please use the choices above.
4. How we share information
We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t rent it, trade it or share it with other agencies, lead buyers or marketers for their own marketing.
We share information only as needed to help you or run our agency:
- Insurance companies and their representatives, including wholesale brokers and managing general agents when we use them, to get quotes, apply for and place coverage and service your policy. Insurance companies may get reports such as driving records or claims history to price your coverage, under their own privacy notices.
- Government programs, when you ask us to help you enroll, such as HealthCare.gov or Medicare.
- People you ask us to send information to, such as your mortgage company, a certificate holder or a premium finance company.
- Service providers that help us run our agency, such as our agency management system, email and phone providers, website hosting and security and the website tools in Section 3.
- When the law requires it, or to protect rights, safety or security, including responding to regulators, courts and law enforcement.
- If MWI’s business is sold or merged, to the new owner, which must continue to protect it.
Medicare: we won’t share your information with another agency or marketing organization unless you give us your permission first.
5. Customers: your insurance privacy notice
If you buy insurance through us, Florida’s insurance privacy rules (Chapter 69O-128, Florida Administrative Code) and the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act also apply to your nonpublic personal financial and health information. Your insurance company gives you a privacy notice that explains how it handles that information. That notice controls if it differs from this website policy. Ask us and we’ll help you get a copy.
6. Calls, texts and emails
- Calls: if you ask us to contact you, we’ll call or email you back about your request.
- Texts: we don’t send marketing texts. If you’ve been in touch with us, a member of our team may text you one-to-one about your request or your insurance. If you’d rather not get texts, tell us and we’ll stop.
- Emails: if you’d rather not get marketing emails from us, reply to any of them or call us and we’ll stop. You’ll still get messages about your policies and requests.
- Do-not-call: to stop marketing calls from us, tell us and we’ll add you to our internal do-not-call list.
7. How we protect information
We keep a written information security program with administrative, technical and physical safeguards, such as limiting who can access personal information. No website, email or internet transmission is completely secure, so we can’t promise that information will always be safe. If a data breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as Florida law requires (section 501.171, Florida Statutes).
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, and as long as insurance and other laws or our insurance company contracts require. Then we securely delete or destroy it.
Requests sent through our website forms are also kept in our website system. Only authorized members of our team can open them. Once a year, we delete the ones that are more than 2 years old.
9. Your choices
- Cookies and analytics: see Section 3.
- Marketing: reply to any marketing email from us or call us and ask us to stop.
- Review or correct your information: contact us and we’ll help you review or update the contact and policy information we hold. Some information has to be kept for legal or recordkeeping reasons. To correct information an insurance company holds, we’ll help you contact that company.
10. Children
This website is meant for adults and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us information through the site, contact us and we’ll delete it. When you insure a family member, such as a teen driver, we collect only what you give us to quote or service that coverage.
11. Links to other websites
Our site links to insurance companies, government sites, social media and other websites. Their own privacy policies apply, not this one, and we aren’t responsible for their content or practices.
Google Maps features
This website includes Google Maps features and content. Use of Google Maps features and content is subject to the then-current versions of the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service at https://maps.google.com/help/terms_maps/ and the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
12. Florida residents
MWI is located in Florida, holds Florida insurance agency license L055907 and follows Florida law, including the state’s insurance privacy rules (Chapter 69O-128, F.A.C.) and the Florida Information Protection Act (section 501.171, F.S.).
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. If we make a material change to how we use or share personal information, we’ll post a notice on our site.
