McGriff-Williams Insurance is an independent insurance agency in Gainesville, in business since 1983 and licensed in Florida. We serve Ocala and Marion County clients by phone, email and video from our Gainesville office, about 30 minutes away. We work with middle-market contractors and construction firms, and this page is for Marion County companies.
A busy market for construction
- Marion County had 8,838 active residential permits, and growth is concentrated in the southwest part of the county (Ocala Gazette).
- FDOT is widening I-75 in two segments, including an 8-mile, $242 million stretch from SR 200 to SR 326. Both are due in early 2029 (CFLRoads).
- The new diverging diamond interchange at I-75 and NW 49th St is under construction, with its final gateway feature expected by 2029 (Ocala-News).
- In June 2026 the state created the Uplands Stewardship District, about 5,189 acres west of On Top of the World planned for up to 16,634 homes. Creating the district does not approve any development, and no timeline has been set (352today).
- South Marion High, a $180 million-plus campus, opened in August 2026 (Ocala-News).
- The College of Central Florida broke ground on a $19.4 million Criminal Justice Institute in October 2026 (Daily Ocala).
